When attempting to select & edit 19 or more VMware guest servers within a VCentre, the BE console generates a 'Dynamic Query Connection Logon failure'.
Selecting and editing less than 18 servers does not cause the issue.

The error indicates credential issues, but editing any server individually confirms the credentials are correct.

Browse Failure:
Invalid credential was used for connecting to Backup Exec agent - Dynamic Query Connection Logon failure

 

 

Workaround:

Select and edit less than 18 jobs at one time.

Pop up error occurs: "Unable to delete the 0. Unknown reason 0" when attempting to delete backup sets in Backup Exec 2012.

Some IMG folders are not erased if expired IMG media is reclaimed during Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) enabled differential backup of VMware virtual machine using Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI). As a workaround, please delete all the empty remaining IMG folders and their subdirectories manually.

Service Pack 1 (SP1) for SSR 2013 is automatically pushed to client machine that already have SP1 installed when pushed via Symantec System Recovery Management Solution (SSR-MS). By default, the install policy/package will reboot these client machines.

Problem

When enabling or modifying policies in Symantec System Recovery Management Solution (SSR-MS), duplicate NSEs are generated by the SSR Plug-in on the client machines. This in turn causes a performance issue on the Symantec Management Platform (SMP) server as it struggles to process all of these events in a timely manner.

This is typically only an issue in environments where a large number (several thousand) of clients are being managed by SSR-MS.

Solution

The only workaround currently available is to limit the number of policy changes being made or to stagger the changes to 'groups' of clients rather than applying the new (or changed) policy to all clients.

Following the installation of Service Pack 2, when attempting to view the configured backup jobs in server Properties, the Jobs tab shows no jobs and displays the message ' No jobs exist'. There may also be a warning displayed bottom left of the console saying 'The query for Job View failed'.
 
The 'No jobs exist' message is valid if there really are no jobs that have been defined for that server. The scenario of this issue is when jobs have been created previously, but now do not show in the Jobs tab of the console.

Problem

The time to complete a Granular (GRT) Backup to tape of Active Directory (AD) from a Windows 2003 Standard Server 32-bit increases significantly after upgrading from Backup Exec 2010 R3 to Backup Exec 2012. After upgrade, a noticeable increase in both memory and CPU usage is observed by the BEREMOTE.EXE service on the DC during the, 'Updating Catalogs,' phase of the backup. AD GRT to disk backups and non-GRT to tape completes within same duration / same CPU / memory usage prior to the upgrade. After upgrade, GRT to tape backup byte count completes within the same duration prior to upgrade; the increase time occurs in the "Update Catalogs" stage where the Global Directory of AD is seen within the Backup job activity is transverse. Duplicating AD GRT data from disk to tape decreases the amount of time, but often not to pre-upgrade times nor does it lower the CPU & memory usage by BEREMOTE.EXE on the DC.

 
Error

No specific error has been reported with this issue.

In some cases the DC during GRT to tape backup jobs appear to be in a hung/frozen state.

 
Environment

Windows 2003 Standard SP2 32-bit

 
Cause

BEREMOTE.EXE transverse a AD Global Directory consisting of a large number of entries (e.g. Over 100K entries).
